We combine the most sophisticated spectroscopy techniques with cutting-edge control systems in order to embed testing procedures which are typically performed off-line and on a sample-basis, into the manufacturing lines. This aims to enhance the quality and safety standards of manufactured products along the whole agri-food production chain, allowing our Customers to strengthen their HACCP procedures.
A device to detect the presence of unwanted and prohibited contaminants in food contact materials (FCM) during the manufacturing and food packaging processes, is currently under development, in order to verify that such items comply with the legal requirements pertaining to their safe use.
The current state-of-the-art involves periodic sample testing based on appropriate thresholds for a comprehensive list of unintentional chemical contaminants. However, due to the inhomogeneity of the input sources, especially when dealing with recycled materials, this may not exclude any possibility of contamination.
Xsafe-PACK, which is partially funded by MANUNET network, will continuously control the chemical composition of the raw materials and the finished product in different positions along the manufacturing line, in order to identify both heavy metals and molecular contaminants and communicate in real-time the analysis results to the manufacturing plant.
