FlashQ is part of the DETECTOR all-in-one family integrating both intensity and position sensors, frontend electronics, and a FPGA-based control unit, all in the same device case.

A FlashQ Is currently part of the HPTC setup (Holland Protonen Therapie Centrum in Delft), where is facing the extraordinarily intense proton beam extracted toward the experimental room.

What?

FLASHQ is the novel and ambitious all-in-one device aiming to deal with experimental applications in ultra-high dose rate.

Where?

FLASHQ is conceived to be placed at the isocentre measuring the beam position, shape and intensity. Suitable for both horizontal and vertical beam lines, FLASHQ is the perfect gear for clinical and research centres approaching feasibility studies on new frontiers in particle therapy.

When?

FLASHQ is the ideal solution for performing experiments on ultra-high intensity beams aiming at studying their potential use in radiation therapy

Ideal for characterization of ultra-high dose rate beams

Who?

FLASHQ is aimed at medical and accelerator physicists who require a fast and reliable device, able to retrieve beam profile and particle flux estimation, with optimized signal collection in extended dynamic range.

How?

FLASHQ includes dedicated software, power supply and electronic interfaces, it is able to detect ultra-high dose rate avoiding signal saturation, still ensuring high precision in real-time reconstruction of the beam position. An additional integral chamber with separate data acquisition, power supply and charge collection efficiency tuning, allows to perform independent intensity measurements by connecting an external electrometer.

Why?

The novel “flash” dose rates exceed the current clinical limits, demanding a review of traditional gold standard solutions for the intensity and profile detection by experimental physicists. FLASHQ is a detector born for overcoming the recombination effects and the front-end signal saturation issues of traditional gas ionization chambers.
